Tips for Decluttering Your Home

1. Schedule some "me" time: Set aside specific windows of time for decluttering your home on a schedule that works for you and your lifestyle. For some this may be 30 minute bursts several times a week, for others it could be bi-weekly 4 hour deep dives. Put it in your calendar and make it a priority.

2. Set a goal: Take some time to sit quietly and think about what it is you want to achieve by decluttering your home. This may be creating more space, getting organised, reducing stress or changing the feel and style of your home. Having a clear goal in mind will help you stay motivated.

3. Start small: If you try to tackle everything at once you will most likely become overwhelmed and get stuck. Break the task down by focussing on one thing at a time. This could be one area of your home, or one type of item (like clothes or books). Once you've conquered that, move on to the next.

4. Be ruthless: When in doubt, throw it out! If you haven't used something in 6 months (or 1 year for seasonal items), chances are you don't need it. Decide to welcome happiness into your year by surrounding yourself only with things that bring you joy

5. Be environmentally conscious: There are many ways to declutter your home without simply throwing things away. Consider donation, consignment, or even selling items online. 

6. Reward yourself: After all your hard work, treat yourself! Whether it's a new book, a manicure, some extra me-time, or some gorgeous new home accessories, make sure you give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done.
